Before the shelters are built, before the fishing lines are set, and before the first hard choices are made, meet the 10 survivalists stepping into the wilderness for Alone Season 13: World Championship.
The Land: The First Contestant
Before a single shelter is built, before a fishing line hits the water, and before any contestant tests their skills against the wilderness, there is another competitor waiting for them: the land itself.
Season 13 takes place in the remote Richardson Mountains of Canada's Northwest Territories, north of the Arctic Circle. This landscape is vast, beautiful, unforgiving, and completely indifferent to human plans.
The contestants will face isolation, changing weather, predators, limited resources, and the constant challenge of adapting to an environment that has been shaping survival stories long before any camera arrived.
If Alone has taught us anything, it's that the wilderness doesn't care how accomplished you are, how many skills you possess, or how badly you want to win.
The Richardson Mountains don't hand out participation trophies.
And that's exactly why this season is going to be fascinating to watch.
Before the Drop
As I prepared for Season 13, I spent time getting to know each contestant through their backgrounds, experience, and personal stories. These aren't predictions of who will win—just the qualities that immediately caught my attention.
Some contestants appear incredibly skilled and methodical. Others seem driven by purpose, family, or a desire to test themselves in one of the world's toughest environments. As the season unfolds, I'm looking forward to seeing which first impressions hold true and which are completely overturned by the wilderness.
Kimba's First Impressions Before the Drop
Aaron Barnard
A competitor who seems motivated by something bigger than the prize money. Aaron's story of honoring his friend Travis reminds me that nobody arrives on Alone carrying only gear.
Dave Booth
Dave feels like the complete package: outdoorsman, guide, teacher, and problem solver. His experience is obvious, but it's his balanced approach that caught my attention.
Nero Buys
One of the most fascinating life stories in the cast. Veteran, educator, father, and bushcraft instructor, Nero's path to Alone has been anything but ordinary.
Jacks Genega
A wilderness educator with New Jersey roots and a philosophy built around overcoming life's wildcards. Jacks may be the contestant I'm most curious to watch this season.
Will Longley
Will brings something unique: a deep ancestral connection to northern survival traditions. His story feels connected not just to the challenge, but to the land itself.
Žiga Ogorelec
A biologist, adventurer, and endurance athlete who has repeatedly pushed the limits of self-reliance. I'm especially interested in the tension between incredible skill and missing home.
Clementino Pedrosa
After years of teaching survival to others, Clementino is seeking solitude and self-discovery. That search for personal growth feels very much in the spirit of Feral Enough.
Andrew Price
Andrew's work helping people reconnect with nature to navigate anxiety and depression immediately stood out to me. His story reminds us that nature can heal as well as challenge.
Poldi Waldmann-Moloney
The youngest competitor in the field. Poldi's confidence, hunting experience, and adventurous spirit make him one of the season's biggest question marks—in the best possible way.
David Young
David wasn't born into the outdoors; he discovered it. His desire to inspire his daughters and pursue a once-in-a-lifetime adventure makes his journey especially relatable.
